In third grade, students tell time to the nearest minute and measure intervals of time with the help of visuals such as number lines and clock models. Students measure liquid volumes, masses and lengths of objects in fractions of a unit and present their data in line plots. Students represent categorical data using picture graphs and bar graphs. Students also define area and perimeter of plane figures and compute measurements of rectangles by counting unit squares and by applying area and perimeter formulas.
