Common Core Math: Grade 1: Geometry

In first grade, students describe geometric figures and determine which of their attributes define common shapes, both two-dimensional (such as circles, rectangles, trapezoids and triangles) and three-dimensional (such as cubes, cones and cylinders). Students construct shapes based on descriptions of their attributes. Students combine shapes to create composite shapes and break apart circles and rectangles by partitioning them into halves or quarters.
